Emergency Medical Services

Metro Region EMS System provides a forum where the public, private and non-profit sectors can meet to create long-term visions for EMS in the nine county metro area of Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties.

The Metro Region EMS System and its committees proposes, reviews and recommends standards and procedures which coordinates and improves emergency medical services in the metro area and conceives and adopts plans to ensure a coordinated and effective response to multiple casualty incidents and special events regardless of hazards and cause, either natural or man-made. The Region just in the last 3-4 years has sponsored research that has changed the way EMS is delivered nationwide while also impacting patient outcomes. Research projects such as these have led to new pre-hospital protocols that were rapidly adopted that have improved patient care and outcomes.

The Metro Region EMS System is a member of the Metro Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition.  The signed agreement indicates EMS’s commitment to plan and respond together.
